Fantastic week spent here with John and Carl during the RYA ocean course. John bent over backwards to turn mind-bending celestial navigation content into an easy-to-understand (and oddly) enjoyable process. Thanks for all the extra time outside hours guys!

  But for a few individuals (incl Carl) I’d never realised this dream of learning to sail. I started “Comp Crew” with minimal yachting experience & was absolutely thrilled with my success (thanx Sean). John & Crew care a great deal about their students experience & learning journey. The “thrill” continues now I’m doing “Day Skipper” (thanx John). My own learning challenges were helped by many individual aspects at Sunshine Sail making it feel “just right” Ie. ideal venue and facilities, small class size & most accomodating attitude of Johns team & their expertise. It’s a privilege to belong to the Sunshine Sail fraternity

  I completed both the Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper, Theory and Practical, courses with SSA in July 2017. I also undertook a delivery from Mooloolaba to Yeppoon and participated in the Hamilton Island Race Week during August 2017. I learnt a great deal from SSA's John Bankart and Chris Brown, both during classroom lectures and while out sailing on the Hanse 400 (Eressea). John's teachings enhanced my existing knowledge and have given me the extra theoretical and practical experience to now feel confident to purchase my own yacht. I would highly recommend SSA to anyone seeking to gain sailing knowledge from professionals with many years of experience.

  We had John aboard our boat for 5 days of RYA training and assessment. Everyone learnt a great deal and reached there goal. John as well as being an amazingly accomplished sailor is also an excellent instructor as well as being great company. I would recommend his services unreservedly.
