ICC – International Certificate of Competence
$155
About this course
Most countries require visiting yachtsman to hold a Certificate of Competence. If you are planning to sail and cruise within Europe and the Mediterranean, the RYA recommends skippers to hold the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
If you intend to use the European Inland Waterways you must have your International Certificate of Competence (ICC) validated for inland waterways. This is done by doing the online CEVNI module after completing the ICC.
The ICC certificate is available to citizens of most countries worldwide. It is a legal requirement for boaters in Europe. An assessment if need be is undertaken through Sunshine Sailing Australia to ensure that applicants reach the minimum standard required.
For those with little or no experience of boating, we recommend our 2-day course which covers everything needed for the certificate and includes the assessment itself. There is accommodation for those who already have certain qualifications.
Please feel free to contact the Sunshine Sailing Australia anytime to have a chat with Colin if you are unsure which course would suit your needs. Of note is that the ICC assessment can be met by completing the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course and Powerboat Level Two course.
Obtain your ICC with Sunshine Sailing Australia in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast by either of the below two options:
- If you have the practical Day Skipper qualification (or above), you may complete the ICC application form and attach a photocopy of your practical certificate. For clarification please consult the lists of certificates eligible for conversion in the pages of the ICC Form
- By taking a practical assessment at our RYA training centre. The content of the course is detailed on the form. It can be taken on your own boat or our school boat. The assessment includes questions on regulations, safety, pilotage and navigation and a boat handling assessment.
